When the sun is done burning

April 24, 2023 • 1 min read

What will we do when our sun is done burning

When the ocean's vaporize

When the air is unbreathable

Would we be prepared

Would we even be here

Could it be we are on a different planet

Maybe we've destroyed ourselves

Maybe God comes to save us

What will happen to our most beloved songs

The Gold, The Platinum, and Diamond Certified hits

The melodies, rhythm, words, and sounds that motivate, move, and cure

What about the The Last Supper, the Mona Lisa, or the Sleeping Venus

Will Starry Nights turn to red dawns

And Apollo 8 looking at a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam

Maybe we just blend in to the rest of the cosmos

And

Their photographs

Their first birthday

Their first step

Their graduation

Their marriage

Their birth

Their death

How could we even carry them beyond this point

And how can I forget

her voice

her smile

her touch

her laugh

her smell

her support

her beliefs

her ticks

her annoyance

Our first date

Our first everything

All that I've loved

It's gone

I'm gone

What could we take with us

What could we do, if anything

Maybe all meaning is lost, and it starts all over again.
